Session Overview:
The National Safety Council reports 19% of construction workers have a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and 75% of employers have been impacted by the opioid crisis. Yet, substance misuse remains the proverbial “elephant in the room” in most construction workplaces. Policies for drug-free workplaces, drug testing, and even supplying Narcan on job sites are not enough. The time has come for employers to confront the realities of the enormous human and financial toll of substance misuse.

A brief presentation about the impact of substance misuse in construction will include panelists sharing their lived experience with addiction, including treatment and recovery. Panelists will share their stories of hope, help, and recovery. Panelists will describe why stigma reduction in the workplace is vital for persons struggling with substance misuse. Contractors will learn how to recognize warning signs of impairment and how to talk to workers about substance misuse.

Micron’s Sustainability Initiatives in Construction

Sustainability is becoming increasingly important in the construction world.  This session will focus on two areas.  First, Micron’s Director of Construction will give an update on implementing sustainable construction practices into our expansion projects located in Boise, Idaho, and Clay, New York.  Second, Micron’s Vice President, Global EHS & Sustainability will share an overview of the proposed Securities and Exchange Commission climate reporting rule that may impact business, results of operations, or financials in a company’s financial statements.

In 2020, the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Family Foundation set out on an ambitious journey: the creation of a state-of-the-art campus to house two extraordinary organizations—Mission43, which empowers veterans and military spouses, and the Challenged Athletes Foundation–Idaho, dedicated to aiding athletes with physical disabilities. Fast-forward to next month, when a milestone ribbon-cutting ceremony will celebrate the completion of this unique 7-acre facility in Boise, Idaho. Join Bryan as he delves into the inner workings of this ambitious initiative. Learn how a private family foundation successfully assembled a dynamic team, secured funding, and navigated the complexities to bring this multi-year project to fruition.
